After what was a very surprisingly disappointing exit from the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup 2021, Team India is full on focused to do much better this time around when they travel to Australia in October.

Team India faced defeat in their first two matches of the T20 World Cup 2021 against Pakistan and New Zealand respectively, which turned out to be a major factor behind Team India’s early exit. Eventually, Australia won the final to be crowned the champions.

Now, up next for them, is to fight to retain that Trophy, thankfully for them, they will be doing it at their background when they take the field in T20 World Cup 2022.

However, former Aussie captain, someone who had his hand on several of the 50 overs World Cup, Ricky Ponting, has named the star cricketer to watch out for in the tournament.

While talking on the ICC Review show, Ricky Ponting picked Indian star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant as the player to watch out for in the T20 World Cup 2022. Ponting, who is the coach of the Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals side in the IPL, knows the left-hand batter very well.

Ponting said that Indian team should be looking to use Pant as a floater, listing him at number 5, but his batting position will change according to circumstances. He believes that the Australian pitches will be greatly helpful for him.

“He’s just an outstanding young man that’s got the world at his feet. He’ll be exceptionally dangerous for India, especially on the wickets we’ll prepare in Australia (for the T20 World Cup) – good, fast, flat, bouncy wickets. He’ll be one of the players to watch at the tournament for sure,” said Pant’s IPL head coach.
