Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed captain of India’s T20I squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia, stepping in for key players like the injured Hardik Pandya. Despite earlier speculations about Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag earning his maiden T20I call-up, he didn’t make the cut for the series starting on November 23.

Following the announcement, Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his feelings with a smiling emoji on his X account, while Riyan Parag, gearing up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting the same day, subtly hinted at his omission.

Parag posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Mausam banana apna kaam hai ab badal garje ya na garje usse hame kya (It is our job to create the conditions, we don’t care whether the clouds thunder or not).”

Parag’s focus now turns to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where Assam faces Gujarat in their first match at the Mahajan Cricket Academy Ground, IT Park, Chandigarh, on November 23.

As India sets its sights on the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean and the USA, the T20I squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, signals the beginning of preparations for the upcoming global event.
