The fervor for cricket had enveloped the western Indian city in the lead-up to the most highly anticipated match of the tournament, and India took an early lead by dismissing Pakistan for 191 in just 43 overs.

Despite the promising partnership between Babar Azam (50) and Muhammad Rizwan (49), a total of around 300 seemed attainable for Pakistan. However, their innings crumbled before they could complete their full 50 overs.

In the tournament, India, a two-time champion, stands alongside 2019 runners-up New Zealand as the only two teams to triumph in their initial matches. Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian fast bowler, was awarded the Player of the Match title, having recorded impressive figures of 2-19 from nine overs.

Meanwhile, after the match, the Pakistan fans claimed that there was no support to the Pakistan team in the stadium. They claimed that while there was various chants played by the DJ to motive the Indian team, nothing was done for the Pakistan team.

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a statement that would shock everyone. Vaughan said, with a smile, that it was India captain Rohit Sharma who told the DJ to not play the “Dil Dil Pakistan” song.

Michael Vaughan said “The best move by Rohit Sharma in this World Cup has been asking the DJ not to play ‘Dil Dil Pakistan” – if they play it then Pakistan will win so it’s a great move as most captains won’t think about it, he is ahead of time (big smile).”
