Last year, the T20 World Cup in Australia was tough for the Indian cricket team. They sadly got knocked out after losing to England in the semi-finals. To improve their performance in T20 matches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) formed a special squad for the T20I matches only while the more senior players are busy preparing for the upcoming 50 overs ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

This new team, led by Hardik Pandya, is filled with talented young players who are showing their skills and abilities in these intense matches.

Back in the 2007 T20 World Cup, India took something of a similar strategy. After cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid retired from T20 cricket, the captaincy was given to the young and promising MS Dhoni.

Hardik Pandya is now leading a team of young talents, making decisions for the T20 format. But this means experienced players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have fewer opportunities to play.

Next year, the T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies and the United States. America’s cricket scene is growing, especially after the recent Major League Cricket.

In the midst of all these developments, Rohit Sharma, the Indian team’s captain, has started his cricket academy, Cricket Kingdom Academy, in California. He is enthusiastic about nurturing and supporting young cricketers from the beginning.

Rohit Sharma expressed his passion for cricket’s growth in America during a recent talk. He believes in giving proper training and support to young players, starting from the grassroots level.

Cricket fans are excited about the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup in America, hoping to see the Indian team in action once again on American soil. Sharma is currently in America to inaugurate his academy. During a fan interaction, Rohit Sharma happily responded to a question about his return to America to represent the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024 while he doesn’t play for the T20I anymore.

Rohit Sharma said, “Rather than just coming here and enjoying, there are other reasons to come here. We all know the next World Cup will be played here, the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. I am sure everyone is excited about playing here and we are looking forward to that.”

So, does that mean that Rohit Sharma will play in the T20 World Cup 2024 and will also lead the team, only time will tell.
