Rohit Sharma, leading Team India in the ICC Cricket ODI World Cup 2023 for the first time, is poised to break the Men in Blue’s decade-long ICC trophy drought in the current event. India’s first semi-finalist status in the World Cup 2023, achieved through nine consecutive victories in the league-stage matches, showcases Rohit’s captaincy prowess.

The clash against New Zealand awaits at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 15.

In a pre-match press conference on November 14, Rohit responded to a question hinting at his international retirement, stating, “I don’t have much time to think about my journey. Probably after November 19, I’ll contemplate it. Right now, it’s just about the business. We want to display good cricket, understanding the importance of this week, and we don’t want to change our mindset.”

Notably, India and New Zealand clashed earlier in the ongoing tournament on October 22 in Dharamsala, where the Men in Blue triumphed by four wickets, led by Virat Kohli’s stellar 95 and Mohammed Shami’s impressive five-wicket haul. New Zealand, with five wins in nine league-stage matches, finished 4th in the league table and gears up for the upcoming challenge.
