Team India will face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series. The first game will start on January 11 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Rohit Sharma will be back, leading the T20I side. He, along with Virat Kohli, made their return to the T20I side after 14 months.

These two players haven’t played T20Is since India lost the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 against England. However, with the T20 World Cup 2024 coming up, India has gone with their experienced duo. Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are injured, and Rohit will be doing the captain’s job.

However, it will be a big opportunity for Rohit to get back to his T20I best. Famously known as “hitman,” Rohit will have a big record on the line to break. The Indian captain has been one of the best batters in the shorter format. He has smashed most sixes in international cricket.

In T20Is, Rohit is at the top with 182 sixes. He needs another 18 sixes to become the first ever batter to hit 200 sixes in the shorter format. With the form he showed during the World Cup 2023, he can certainly achieve that in three matches.

Rohit scored 597 runs in World Cup 2023 at a strike rate of 125. His ability to hit sixes of the good balls makes him a difficult batter to bowl at. The three T20Is will be played in Mohali, Indore, and Bengaluru, which are known as the six-hitting grounds in India.

Hence, we might see him hitting some big shots in the coming series. The second game will be played on January 14 in Indore, while the third and final match will take place on January 17 in Bengaluru. This is the final T20 series India will play ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
