During an event in the United States of America (USA), Rohit Sharma disclosed how he got the nickname ‘The Hitman.’

Sharma said that during the 2013 series against Australia, Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books by smashing his way to his first-ever double hundred in One Day Internationals (ODIs), along with setting a remarkable world record of hitting 16 sixes in a single match.

He further revealed that it was during the post-match presentation ceremony that the nickname ‘Hitman’ was born, as he recounted the intriguing tale behind its origin.

In the match that took place in 2013, Rohit Sharma exhibited unparalleled prowess with the bat, exhibiting a masterclass in power-hitting and shot selection. His blistering innings captivated the cricketing world.

Sharma revealed that after playing that wonderful inning, one guy called ‘Hitman’ while he also mentioned that former India cricketer Ravi Shastri who was doing commentary for the match, also called him as ‘The Hitman’ after his fabulous inning.

“I remember the series vs Australia in 2013 when I scored my first ever double hundred in an ODI match, I had hit 16 sixes during the inning and during the post match ceremony, some guy came up to me and said that you are a hitman. I also remember Ravi Shastri had also called me ‘The Hitman’ during commentary of my inning,” said the current Indian cricket team captain.
