Dravid’s role in Dhoni becoming an elite finisher
In a recent discussion on India TV, former India opener Virender Sehwag explained how Rahul Dravid had an impact on MS Dhoni developing his skills to become one of the greatest finishers in the game. Viru said, “He was given the finisher’s role under Dravid, who once scolded him for getting out after playing a bad shot. I think that incident changed him. So around 2006-07, he transformed and started taking responsibility for finishing matches.” Virender Sehwag also added that Sourav Ganguly sacrificed his position in the batting line-up to help MS Dhoni unleash his skills.
Ever since MS Dhoni’s retirement, India is struggling to find a finisher of similar capacity. Rahul Dravid is currently the Head Coach of Team India.
