Pakistan cricket team’s one of the most important fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has openly shared his aspiration to approach cricket with unwavering determination. He draws inspiration from the legendary former all-rounder and captain, Shahid Afridi.

Shaheen reached a significant milestone in his career on October 31, as he became the quickest paceman to reach 100 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs) in just 51 matches.

This extraordinary achievement unfolded when Shaheen took the wicket of Tanzid Hasan Tamim during Pakistan’s World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh cricket team at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The talented speedster delivered an exceptional performance in the match, finishing with impressive stats of 9-1-23-3. Currently, he shares the title of the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing tournament, with an impressive count of 16 wickets.

“Records are meant to be rewritten, and it’s a joyous moment to create new records for Pakistan,” Shaheen stated after the match, according to Geo Sports.

He also expressed his admiration for Shahid Afridi, saying, “Shahid Afridi is my hero, and I strive to emulate his style of cricket.”

Shaheen openly acknowledged that Pakistan faced a challenging start to the World Cup, with four consecutive defeats against India, Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan. However, after a convincing seven-wicket win over Bangladesh, Shaheen exuded confidence in Pakistan’s potential to reach the semi-finals.

Currently occupying the fifth spot in the tournament standings with six points and a net run rate of -0.024, Pakistan’s next test awaits them in a clash against New Zealand on November 4 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
