Teams are fighting for the place in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, at the midway point of the tournament, former Australian star Shane Watson revealed his choice for Player of the Tournament. Surprisingly, he hasn’t picked up anyone from Virat Kohli, Quointon de Kock, David Warner, or any bowler as his pick.

In a discussion on Star Sports, Watson picked Indian captain Rohit Sharma as his pick for Player of the Tournament. He said that the way Rohit has been going about the business, he has set the tournament alive with his stroke play.

Watson said, “Take the game from ball one against the best bowlers in the world. I just believe he is going to continue on such a rich vein of form until the end of the tournament. So for me, he is the number one.”

Rohit Sharma has scored 311 runs in five innings at an average of 62.20 and a brilliant strike rate of 133.48. He got out for a duck in the first game, but he has given explosive starts in every match since then. His quick starts have helped the other batters take time and adjust to the score.

Rohit also smashed India’s fastest World Cup hundred off 63 balls in the game against Afghanistan in Delhi. He will be back in action on Sunday, when India plays their next game. The hosts will face defending champion England at the Ekana Stadium on October 29. England has struggled badly in this tournament, and India will be favorites to win that match.
