India has produced many big batting icons in the history of the game. Sunil Gavaskar dominated in the era when there were no helmets. Then came Sachin Tendulkar, and the rest is history. After him, Virat Kohli took that legacy forward and dominated in all three formats.

Virat is the biggest name in the game at the moment, across the globe. He has achieved so much that a cricketer can only dream of. Since making his debut in 2008, he has gone past many legends of the game to become the best.

Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar has lauded the former Indian captain for his consistency over the years and the ability to show why he is the best. In a chat on Backstage with Boria, Akhtar spoke on India’s chances for the coming World Cup at home under Rohit Sharma.

He also said that Rohit is not as good as MS Dhoni at soaking up the pressure on the team. However, the former speedster said that Rohit has everything it takes for India to win the ODI World Cup. Then, he also went on to say that Rohit has the team and is more talented than Virat Kohli.

Akhtar said, “Make no mistake, Rohit does have the team to win the World Cup. As a batter, he is perhaps more talented than Virat Kohli. He is a classical batsman, and the kind of shots he plays are just mind-blowing.”

However, Akhtar also feels that it will be a big task for Rohit to deliver in a crunch situation as a captain. Notably, India hasn’t won an ICC title since 2013. The last time they did it was when MS Dhoni led the team to lift the Champions Trophy in England.

In this period, India has played numerous knockout games in ICC events but hasn’t crossed the line. But this will be a great chance to win the World Cup on home soil. That’s why Akhtar said that every Indian fan is waiting for Rohit to lead India to a World Cup victory.
