Shreyas Iyer is certainly one of the upcoming superstars of Indian cricket. He showed his full strength in the ODI World Cup 2023 at home when he became only the first middle order batter to score 500 or more runs in a World Cup edition.

His quick century in the semi-final against New Zealand was one of the reasons that India reached the final. However, he has been in the news for the last couple of months for some strange reasons.

Notably, he was one of the Indian first-choice players in the recently concluded five-match test series against England at home. He even played the first two games but was dropped after that, citing fitness issues. However, the NCA confirmed that he is totally fit. All these led the Indian board (BCCI) to sack the right-hander from the central contract.

He, along with Ishan Kishan, were the two notable names not included in the central contract for 2024. Some former cricketers and fans even showed their anger at BCCI’s decision on Iyer’s exclusion from the central contract. Iyer’s sister has now also expressed her thoughts on the incident and defended her brother by commenting on a social media post.

One video is going viral where the creator is highlighting Iyer’s journey from missing the last IPL, undergoing surgery, and then making his comeback to Team India for the ODI World Cup 2023. It ended up with the BCCI terminating him for missing just one Ranji match.

Iyer’s sister Shresta commented on the video, “Thank you for making this video!” It shows how Iyer and his family were affected by BCCI’s decision. However, Iyer played the semi-final and final of the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He even scored a fifty in the final in the presence of Rohit Sharma at the ground.
