The hosts have won three games in a row and are looking pretty good. If they win this game, India will collect two more points on the board and inch closer to the semi-finals. This game is also important for the Indian opener, Shubman Gill.

Gill has been in form of life and is the highest run-scorer in 2023 in ODI cricket, with some incredible records in this format. The 23-year-old missed the first two games after suffering from dengue but made his first World Cup appearance in the last game against Pakistan.

He started well with 16 runs off 11 balls with four boundaries, but he couldn’t carry on for long. Gill smashed a hundred and fifty against Australia ahead of the World Cup. He has broken some big ODI records so far and will have a great chance to make history on Friday in the game against Bangladesh.

Gill has scored 1933 runs in 36 innings and needs another 67 runs to complete 2,000 ODI runs in his career. If he can score those runs in the next game, he will become the fastest batter to reach 2000 ODI runs.

Currently, the record is held by Hashim Amla, who did it in 40 innings. Thus, Gill has three more innings to achieve this record, and the way he is going, it looks possible. Zaheer Abbas, Kevin Pietersen, Babar Azam, and Rassie van der Dussen are second with 45 innings. So Shubman Gill has a great chance to register a world record on Friday in the game against Bangladesh.
