Mohammed Siraj’s spell has turned heads of the entire cricket universe. The right-arm fast bowler became the first Indian to take 4 wickets in an over in ODI cricket today. Siraj fired all cylinders against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 Final and has figures of 6/13 after six overs right now.
India and Sri Lanka qualified for the Asia Cup 2023 Final after finishing in the top two positions of the points table for the Super Fours round. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat first in the big game at the R Premadasa Stadium.
The decision backfired because Mohammed Siraj’s spell destroyed the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Jasprit Bumrah first dismissed Kusal Perera caught behind and then Siraj stunned them by taking four wickets in an over. Soon after, Siraj completed his five-wicket haul to leave Sri Lanka reeling at 12/6 after 5.4 overs.
When Siraj completed his fifer in 15 balls, his figures were 5/4. An old tweet from Jofra Archer resurfaced which read:

Mohammed Siraj’s spell has embarrassed Sri Lanka in front of their home fans
All tickets for the India vs Sri Lanka final were sold out at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. There was a lot of support from Sri Lanka for the home side, but they absolutely disappointed their fans with their batting performance. Sri Lanka are on the verge of getting all out soon. They are 49/8 after 14 overs.
Siraj still has three overs left in his spell. It will be interesting to see if he can reach eight wickets. Hardik Pandya has also taken one wicket in the match so far.
