Note: England has only selected the provisional squad. The final squad could still include some of the below-mentioned players.

Openers: Phil Salt (WK) and Ben Duckett

Phil Salt and Ben Duckett will open the batting here. Both these cricketers have been in the mix for a while and will count themselves unlucky for not getting a chance. Nevertheless, with the T20 World Cup happening in 2024, both these cricketers will compete for a spot in the squad.

Middle-Order: James Vince, Harry Brook and Sam Billings

It will be a good middle-order for this strong England ODI playing XI not selected for the 2023 ODI World Cup. If not for Ben Stokes withdrawing his retirement, one of James Vince or Harry Brook would have made it to the squad. Both these players are quality middle-order batters and might still be on the standby list. Sam Billings may have not played recently for England but is still talented enough for this squad.

All-Rounders: Will Jacks and Lewis Gregory

Will Jacks could still travel to India on the standby list. Lewis Gregory is a fine all-rounder. He will look to do well domestically to get a chance again in the England Team. Therefore, both of these players are on this list.

Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan, Rehan Ahmed and Olly Stone

Jofra Archer will lead the pace attack of this squad. He might, as well, make it to the WC squad if he regains fitness in time. Chris Jordan and Olly Stone will complete the pace attack. Rehan Ahmed, like Will Jacks, might still travel to India as the reserve backup for Adil Rashid.
