The depth of talent in India is immense. Hence, it is not a surprise that some noted players had to miss out on the final squad for the ICC event.

Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s recent form is not great. However, the ODI format is the best for his strengths. Ishan Kishan scored a double-century and then hardly got any games. He deserves a comeback to the Indian side.

Middle-Order of the playing 11 of Indians not selected for the 2025 Champions Trophy: Karun Nair, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson (WK) and Suryakumar Yadav

Karun Nair will have to do well in the upcoming domestic games to earn his return back. For Sanju Samson, it is unfortunate, yet again. Tilak Varma will play for India in the ODI squad in the future. SKY is a talented cricketer and ODIs may not just be for him. However, the selectors should not lose hope right away on the Indian T20I skipper.

    All-Rounders: Nitish Reddy

Many had Nitish Reddy on the likely squad for the event. However, while it could be unfair for him, it is the right call by the selectors to keep him out of the side. India did not need another player with a similar skillset as Hardik Pandya for this squad.

Bowlers of the playing 11 of Indians not selected for the 2025 Champions Trophy: Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Varun CV and Prasidh Krishna

The Indian squad will miss Siraj‘s services. He is known to add value in the powerplay. Harshit Rana could still have a chance if anyone gets injured. Varun CV would have been a good spin option while Prasidh Krishna could have used his BGT form to help India do well in the tournament.
