It would be an end to a superb 17-year-long career that has already bagged more than 600 wickets in test cricket. Broad will be bowling his final overs on Day 5 of the match. He would like to take some wickets to end with a win.

After the stumps on Day 3, Broad said in the post-match discussion, “Tomorrow or Monday will be my last game of cricket.” He also thanked everyone who supported him throughout his career. Broad said that he first spoke to English captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum about his decision.

Broad had an extraordinary international career. From six sixes to 600 wickets, he has come very far. He has represented his country in a total of 167 games (including the fifth Ashes test). The pacer has 602 wickets with a best of 8/15. He has also played 121 ODIs and 56 T20Is, picking up 178 and 65 wickets, respectively. With his bat, he has also scored 3662 runs, including one century and 13 half-centuries in Test cricket.

Speaking of the ongoing test at the Oval, Australia has already retained the Ashes after winning the first two games. England made a tremendous comeback and won the third test. But they were unlucky, as the fourth test ended in a draw due to rain. But the hosts will look to win the final game to level the series and pay tribute to Broad with a win.
