Team India beat Bangladesh to qualify for Gold Medal match in Asian Games 2023; Likely to face Pakistan or Afghanistan

The Indian cricket team asserted their dominance in their Asian Games 2022 Semi-Final match against the Bangladesh cricket team and has now qualified for the gold medal match to be played on the 7th of October, i.e. Saturday.

With the Indian senior cricket team busy in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected a 2nd string of future senior team players for the Asian games 2023.

The team led by Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, had to work hard to beat past Nepal in the quarter-final of the Asian Games 2023. But, the Men in Blue eventually came out on top to book a clash with another of their neighbours, Bangladesh.

It was India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad who won the toss and opted to bowl first. And his proven all so right by his bowlers as Sai Kishore took 3 wickets, 2 wickets for Washington Sundar and 1 wickets each for Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Varma, Ravi Bishnoi and Shahbaz Ahmed restricted Bangladesh for just 96 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Chasing the total, last match’s centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal got out for Duck in 4 balls. But there onwards, Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad took India over the line. Tilak Varma scored 55 runs of 26 balls while Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 40 runs of 26 balls.

With that win, the Men in Blue have qualified for the Asian Games Gold medal match. They will face either Pakistan or Afghanistan for the gold medal on 7th October, 11:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST).
