The five-match T20I series between the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket team is in the history books now. Both teams won two T20I matches each, while the fifth T20I did not produce a result. Captain Rishabh Pant spoke about the upcoming tour of England after the conclusion of the home series against South Africa.

Rishabh Pant made his debut as the captain of the Indian cricket team in the home series against the South African cricket team. Fans had high hopes from the wicket-keeper batter, especially because he led the Delhi Capitals to the top of the points table in his first season as IPL captain in 2021.

Unfortunately though, Pant could not make a winning start to his captaincy tenure. The Men in Blue suffered a defeat against South Africa in a high-scoring match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After that game, South Africa beat India by chasing 149 runs at the Barabati Stadium.

India were immense pressure heading into the Vizag T20I. Rishabh Pant finally won his first match as the Indian captain in Vizag. He also led the team to a win in Rajkot. The series was level at 2-2, with the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru playing host to the series decider.

Rains were predicted for the big game on Sunday. As expected, the rain gods interrupted the proceedings multiple times in Bengaluru, leading to a no result.

Rishabh Pant is now looking forward to the England tour

Pant will soon leave for England to play for India in the rescheduled fifth Test. Here’s what he had to say about that game:

“From an individual point of view, we will be looking to win the Test match in England and from a personal point of view, I will be looking to contribute more with the bat. That’s the only thing I am looking forward to.”
