Dinesh Karthik recently named the toughest bowler he has ever batted against in the Indian Premier League. Karthik is one of the few players to have been a part of the IPL since the inaugural season and played in every season after that. Last year, he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Karthik has been one of the most successful wicket-keeper batters in the IPL history. He won his first IPL title with the Mumbai Indians in the year 2013. The wicket-keeper considers himself lucky to have played for the Mumbai Indians then because he did not have to face Lasith Malinga in the middle.
In an interview with CricTracker, Dinesh Karthik named former Mumbai Indians star Lasith Malinga as the toughest bowler he has ever faced in the IPL. Here’s what he had to say about it:
“For me, the toughest bowler I’ve faced in IPL for sure was Lasith Malinga. The few years I did play for Mumbai Indians, I enjoyed it because I was never going to play against him except in the nets, so I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Ahead of the IPL 2022 season, the Kolkata Knight Riders released Dinesh Karthik from their squad. Karthik captained the Knight Riders in 2018 and 2019. However, in the middle of the 2020 season, he handed over the team’s reins to his teammate Eoin Morgan.
Since Karthik has captaincy experience under his belt, it should not be a surprise if the Kolkata Knight Riders sign him again at the mega auction. The Knight Riders do not have a captain now because they also released Morgan. Other teams that need a new captain are Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. Interestingly, Karthik has played for both teams in the past.
