The third and final T20I between South Africa and India in Johannesburg ended in a one-sided affair. The visitors thrashed the Proteas by a massive win of 106 runs, which is the third biggest defeat for South Africa in the shorter format.

Team India posted a massive total of 201/7 in the first inning, courtesy of a brilliant hundred by skipper Suryakumar Yadav. It was his fourth T20I ton, and he has equaled Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell with the most hundreds in the T20 internationals.

He scored runs in tough conditions and came out to bat at 29/2. Just like in the second game, India lost two quick wickets. Shubman Gill, who is rated very highly in the team, got out cheaply once again. After registering a duck in the previous match, he got out for 8 runs in the third game, which has not helped the team.

However, Gill’s numbers in T20I aren’t that good, and he finds it tough to play against the left-arm bowlers. That’s what former Indian opener Aakash Chopra also points out. In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that Gill has been inconsistent in T20Is.

He said, “There are 1-2 big knocks, but around them there is nothing but low scores. Also, against left-arm spin, it seems like there is an issue for him.” The 24-year-old has played 13 T20Is and scored 312 runs at an average of 26 with only two scores of 50 or more.

Gill’s form in T20s will be concerning for India with the T20 World Cup 2024 coming up. He is India’s first-choice opener, and India will like him to be in good form. The Men in Blue will only play three T20Is against Afghanistan now, ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, SKY scored 100 off 56, and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a 41-ball 60. With the ball, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers. He took 5/17 on his birthday and registered his career-best figure. Ravindra Jadeja also bowled well for his 2/25. These two teams will not lock horns in the first ODI on Sunday.
