Virat Kohli has been struggling to record a big score in all formats of cricket since 2020. The last time fans saw Virat celebrating his century on the cricket field was during India’s first-ever day/night Test match against the Bangladesh cricket team at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. More than 2 years have passed since that game, but Kohli is yet to touch the three-figure mark. India’s head coach Rahul Dravid is optimistic that big runs are coming soon for the Test captain.

Ahead of the second match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket team, Rahul Dravid spoke to the reporters in a press conference. During that interaction, Rahul heaped praise on Kohli for keeping the team morale high in these difficult times. Here’s what Dravid had to say about that:

“In terms of keeping the morale high, it’s not difficult. Kohli does it and he is superb, the way he has trained, practiced. There’s not really much a coach can do when the match starts. Virat has been phenomenal in keeping the team in good space.”

I feel there is a run of big runs coming soon, observing how he is practicing: Rahul Dravid

As mentioned ahead, Virat Kohli has not recorded a big score for the team in recent times. Although he has not scored a century, his leadership skills and the support from his teammates has ensured that the Indian cricket team continues to record historic wins in Test matches outside India. Commenting on Kohli’s batting form, Dravid added:

“It’s a pleasure to work with someone like Virat. Personally, he is in a really good space. I feel there is a run of big runs coming soon, observing how he is practicing, how involved he is. Credit to him and the team, despite all that’s happening around.”

India are on the verge of recording a historic Test series win in South Africa soon. The second match of the 3-match Test series will begin tomorrow afternoon in Johannesburg.
