Considering there have been numerous rumours regarding Indian cricket in recent weeks, it was important that Virat Kohli came for the press conference. Also, the squad is about to go on the South Africa Tour, an assignment that has not always been successful for the team.

Virat talked about many topics including his removal as the ODI skipper of Team India. Virat revealed that he was informed of the decision only a few hours prior to the meeting by the selection committee. However, he assured that he is fine with it and also said that he can understand the logic behind the decision.

Virat Kohli replies to question about the rift with Rohit

There have been a few reports that Virat and Rohit do not enjoy a good relationship. This became stronger after reports that Virat would skip the ODI series. However, India’s Test captain confirmed that he will be available for the ODIs. He also answered the question from a journalist about the rift with Rohit.

He said, “There is no rift between me and Rohit Sharma. I have clarified multiple times in the last 2.5 years and now I am tired of clarifying things. I can guarantee you that my communication will never be to take my team down till I am playing cricket.”

Now that Virat has clarified many things, the focus now shifts to the action on the field. The first Test will begin on December 26th. Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul will open the batting in the absence of Rohit and Shubman Gill.
