Looking at the performances from the younger players in the recently-concluded bilateral series against the West Indies cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team, a few members of the cricket universe have suggested that the Indian cricket team should look forward to building a team for the future from now itself.

However, Rajkumar Sharma feels that it is not the right time at the moment because the squad has enough options now that can help the team in becoming a world champion. Here’s what Virat Kohli’s childhood coach had to say while discussing on the Khelneeti podcast:

It is too early to do that. I don’t think wholesale changes are needed. India are just beginning to reestablish themselves in the T20 format. The batting order is looking stable now with a solid middle-order and opening pair. If we continue such performances, we should do well in the World Cup.”

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach says Rohit Sharma can win matches on his day

Further, Rajkumar Sharma said that although Rohit Sharma did not score big in the last two matches against the Sri Lankan cricket team, one must not forget that he is a master player. He described Rohit as a player who can single-handedly win matches on his team.

The Indian cricket team will not play any T20I matches till June 2022 now. Their next T20I series is against the South African cricket team at home after the IPL 2022 season. It will be interesting to see if India can continue their winning streak.
