The Indian Premier League 2024 will kick off on March 22 with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium. It will be the perfect start to a new season, with the two most popular teams facing off against each other.
All teams are looking strong on paper, and one thing that is common with every team is their batting strength. The IPL 2024 auction has helped teams add some match-winners to their squads. However, the team that has the best bowling attack might end up winning. Particularly in death overs because it is never easy to restrict the option in the final overs. Hence, we will look at three teams that have the best death-bowling duo for the IPL 2024.
3. Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings have been the most underperforming team in IPL history. They have only made it to the top four twice in 16 seasons. However, the franchise signed some good players at the IPL 2024 auction to fill the gap. Speaking of their bowling attack, PBKS has Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh. Both are the death-over specialists for their respective teams and have more experience bowling in such situations than other bowlers.
2. Chennai Super Kings
The defending champions, CSK, have certainly made some good signings in order to defend their titles. They have strengthened their batting order with some key all-rounders and also added some good pacers. Notably, Matheesha Pathirana has been the go-through bowler for MS Dhoni in the final overs. Now they have also added Mustafizur Rahman, who also brings a similar skillset of death bowling with him. And one thing is sure: despite Rahman’s current form, MSD will certainly take the best out of him. Though the chances of both pacers playing together are very low, if it happens, CSK will have a strong combo.
1. Mumbai Indians
Jasprit Bumrah has been the best death bowler not just in the IPL but also at the international level; he is probably at the top. The ace pacer has a number of variations to deceive a batter in the final overs. Adding to that, MI also has Jason Behrendorff, Nuwan Thushara, and Gerald Coetzee. All these bowlers bowl in the final overs for their respective sides and are good at it. Hence, Bumrah, along with one of these, can give a tough time to anyone in the final overs in the IPL 2024.
