ODI match poses a different challenge for the cricketers as compared to T20Is and Test matches. The format of the 50-over cricket is such that the players need to have proper hitting technique, game knowledge and also the ability to rotate strike in the middle when needed. With the ball, the bowlers need to have smart knowledge of when to bowl on the same length accurately and when to introduce variations in their game.
Very few all-rounders have managed to achieve the double of scoring a century and taking a four-wicket haul in the same ODI match. Here’s a list of the five oldest men to have accomplished the unique feat.
5. Sanath Jayasuriya – 33 years and 193 days old
Regarded by many as one of the best ODI players of all time, Sanath Jayasuriya accomplished the feat against Australia in the year 2003. He was 33 years and 193 days old when he scored a hundred and bagged four wickets in that game.
4. TM Dilshan – 34 years and 147 days old
Another Sri Lankan to feature on this list is their former all-rounder TM Dilsha. He accomplished the feat at the age of 34 years and 147 days old while playing against Zimbabwe in the year 2011.
3. Mohammed Hafeez – 34 years and 267 days old
Mohammed Hafeez, former Pakistan captain, was just 120 days older than TM Dilshan when he scored a century and completed a four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in an ODI match played in the year 2015.
2. Sir Viv Richards – 35 years and 11 days old
Only two players have accomplished the feat of taking four wickets and scoring 100 in the same match after turning 35. Sir Viv Richards did it against New Zealand in the year 1987.
1. Sikandar Raza – 37 years and 57 days old
