After struggling to get going in the four games against West Indies, Virat Kohli came back to form in the second T20I at the Eden Gardens on Friday. The former India skipper scored 52 runs in 41 balls and anchored the first phase of the batting innings. Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja claimed that two things might have helped Virat get a fifty in the game. In this article, we take a look at the two factors named by Ajay Jadeja which helped Virat Kohli to do well against West Indies.

Factors that helped Virat Kohli to do well against West Indies

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Ajay Jadeja said that two things might have spurred Virat Kohli to perform well. The first was Kieron Pollard coming at short-leg as soon as Virat came to the crease. Hence, Virat went a little aggressive and got a few boundaries. The second was the presence of a decent crowd at the ground. Ajay Jadeja felt that this might have helped Virat get back to his best.

He said, “Two things were different today. One was that Pollard [coming at short-leg]. Suddenly there was a moment Virat Kohli must not have experienced for a very, very long time.” Ajay Jadeja continued, “And then, as he said himself as well, there’s nice to have not a full house but at least some people in the crowd.”

Virat will not take part in the third T20I

Meanwhile, both Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will not take part in the third T20I as per reports. They have been given a break from the bio-bubble and have already left the camp on Friday. It is also being rumoured that they will not participate in the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. However, both the players will return for the Test series. Hence, the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad could get a chance in the playing XI.
