The American cricket team became one of the first two teams to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Yesterday, the International Cricket Council made it clear that the co-hosts of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 – West Indies and the USA – have secured direct qualification for the mega event. Unmukt Chand was excited to see the American team earning a place in the grandest T20 international event.

The first-ever ICC T20 World Cup happened in the year 2007. Since then, the world has witnessed multiple editions of the mega T20 event, but none of them featured a team from the United States. The ICC recently announced that T20 World Cup 2024 will happen in June, with USA and West Indies playing host to the event.

Here’s what the International Cricket Council wrote in a press release issued earlier this week:

Unmukt Chand is likely to play for the United States in T20 World Cup 2024

Many members of the cricket universe would know that former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand has quit Indian cricket and shifted to America. He will be eligible to play for the USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup, and here’s what he wrote on his Instagram story yesterday after seeing the big news:

“2024 it is T20 WC.”

With 20 teams set to participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup, fans should expect one of the best editions of the mega event two years later.
