Vettori worked with Kohli as a captain and a coach at the Royal Challengers Bangalore for quite some time. He is no longer associated with any of the franchises, but he regularly gives his views on the recent happenings in the cricket world.

In a recent chat with ESPNCricinfo, Daniel Vettori spoke about the possible candidates for the vacant position of the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain. 9 out of the 10 teams participating in IPL 2022 have declared their skippers. Only RCB team is remaining. When asked if Virat Kohli will become the captain of the Bangalore-based franchise again, Vettori replied:

I think Faf will step in for Maxwell: Daniel Vettori predicts the RCB captain for IPL 2022

Daniel felt that the quartet of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik will form the leadership group of RCB. He believed du Plessis may lead the team in the first few matches because Maxwell will be unavailable. According to Vettori, if the team won the first 3 matches under du Plessis, they may stick with the South African player as their skipper.

“I think they will look at Kohli, Maxwell, and Du Plessis as the leadership group and even Dinesh Karthik. I think Faf will step in for Maxwell. But if they win the first three games, maybe they will continue on with him”, the former RCB captain added.
