The 2022 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to happen later this year in Australia. Former Indian cricket team opener Wasim Jaffer recently predicted the Top 3 batters of the Indian lineup for the T20 World Cup as well as the Asia Cup T20 tournament which is scheduled to happen in Sri Lanka ahead of the mega event Down Under.
As per Jaffer, the best Top 3 options available for the Indian team right now are the trio of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He feels there is nobody better than them at the moment to bat for India in the Top 3 positions. Interestingly, Jaffer left out Shikhar Dhawan, who has been a consistent performer in the IPL and ICC events. Plus, he has a good experience of playing in Australia.
Here’s what Jaffer had to say during his appearance on the Not Just Cricket Show, as reported by CricTracker:
“If you want a straightforward choice, there is nothing better than these three batters. Rohit will of course be there as a captain, Rahul is in sublime form and Kohli.”

During the same chat, Wasim Jaffer mentioned that there is no one ready at the same level as the above three names, but there are options like Prithvi Shaw, Sanju Samson and Rahul Tripathi, who could take the spots in the future.
“You have contenders, but you can’t replace the three players at the moment. The players like Sanju Samson, Prithvi Shaw, and Rahul Tripathi are few of the contenders,” he added.
IPL 2022 will play a vital role in deciding the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Also, there are quite a few T20I games for India on the road to the mega event, which will help the selectors in making the decision.
