The West Indies have done a brilliant job of keeping things simple on the third day of the second test in Trinidad. They have battled hard against the quality Indian bowling lineup and made sure that they are not surrendering the way they did in the first test.

After bowling out India for 438 runs, the hosts are at 229/5 at the end of the third day. Alick Athanaze is unbeaten on 37, while Jason Holder is 11 not out. The Indian bowlers found it hard to get the wickets of the batter, with the pitch not helping much.

The West Indies had a pretty good opening stand of 71 runs on Day 2. Tagenarine Chanderpaul made 33 off 95. Meanwhile, West Indian skipper Kraigg Brathwaite also made sure that his team did not lose quick wickets in the middle.

He made 75 runs off 235 balls before getting an unplayable delivery from Ravi Ashwin, which castled him up. Kirk McKenzie also played a decent knock of 32 off 57 at No. 4. On the other hand, Jermaine Blackwood also made 20 off 92 before getting out of Ravindra Jadeja.

But the wicket was taken because of the brilliance of Ajinkya Rahane at slip. It happened on the third ball of the 87th over. Jadeja bowled a ball outside leg, which spun and took the outside edge of the bat. Rahane, who was at first slip, took a Blinder of the catch to his left.

Even the batter couldn’t believe what happened and stood in disbelief. The hosts are still 209 runs behind India’s first-inning score. For India, Virat Kohli scored his 29th test century and made 121 runs.

Rohit Sharma (80), Yashasvi Jaiswal (56), Ravindra Jadeja (61) and Ravi Ashwin (56) also scored a half-century each. India won the first game by an innings and 141 runs and will look to win the second game as well. On the other hand, the West Indies will hope to somehow draw the game and avoid a clean sweep.
