The intriguing incident unfolded following the 31st over, as Kohli earnestly conveyed his thoughts to Rohit. However, the ‘Hitman’ responded by offering his perspective, seemingly dismissing his predecessor’s suggestions. A visibly frustrated Kohli then returned to his fielding position.

Prior to this exchange, the hearts of millions of Indians skipped a beat when Rohit briefly left the field due to a finger injury sustained while fielding. This unfortunate incident took place on the last ball of the 10th over, as Daryl Mitchell struck a shot to mid-off from Mohammed Siraj’s delivery. Rohit, stationed at mid-off, slipped while attempting to stop the ball, inadvertently injuring his fingers in the process.

Clearly in discomfort, the Indian captain displayed his frustration by kicking the ball and letting out some audible frustration, all of which was captured on camera. Subsequently, the ‘Hitman’ made his way to the dressing room for necessary treatment.

Once Rohit returned to the field with his hand taped, he assumed the role from stand-in captain KL Rahul, who assumed the role during his absence.

Earlier in the match, Rohit had won the toss and opted to field against the Blackcaps. However, due to Hardik Pandya’s injury, he was compelled to make two changes, introducing Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami in place of Hardik and Shardul Thakur.
