Batting first, India made 199 runs for the loss of just two wickets. Ishan Kishan did not have a memorable outing against West Indies but in the first T20I against Sri Lanka, he made 89 runs from 56 balls. It was a stunning knock and he got good support from Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. The latter, especially, was in top form as he scored a quick-fire half-century.

With the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early and India chipped at the wickets column consistently. Rohit Sharma made good use of the all-rounders as India came up with a victory by 62 runs.

Sri Lanka is without the services of some crucial names. The captain said that they were missed in the first encounter as the new guys lacked experience. However, he did concede that his team was poor in all three departments.

Speaking post the game, the Sri Lankan skipper mentioned, “We were really poor in all three departments. They batted beautifully and read the conditions really well. We are without our main spinners, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana and the new guys are not very experienced. Hopefully, Asalanka carries his form throughout the series.”

While it is hard to defeat India, Sri Lanka can still pose a tough fight. They will need the batters and the bowlers to click in unison for that to happen.
