“We want to win World Cup,” says Bangladesh player Mehidy Hasan after beating South Africa

The Bangladesh cricket team has shown great improvement in ODI cricket over the last few years. They qualified for the 2015 Cricket World Cup quarterfinals and reached the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy semifinals. Recently, they picked up their maiden ODI win against South Africa in South Africa. Bangladesh have shown remarkable consistency in ODI cricket over the last few months. They are the top-ranked team in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League points table. Recently, they beat Afghanistan in a home series and have now begun their South African tour with a win.

Speaking after the historic win against the South African cricket team, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan said that the team has bigger goals now. Here’s what he had to say:

“It is not possible to look for progress if you don’t have big dreams,” he said. “We are dreaming big. We want to win more overseas series. We want to win the Asia Cup, the World Cup. We are following these plans and trying to stick to the right process.”

Mehidy Hasan took four wickets in the ODI match against South Africa

The first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series between the Bangladesh cricket team and the South African cricket team happened in Centurion yesterday. Bangladesh batted first and scored 314/7 on the board. In reply, the Proteas were all out for 276 runs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz shone for the visitors with a four-wicket haul. He scored 19 runs off 13 deliveries in the first innings, smashing two sixes. Later in the innings, Mehidy took the wickets of David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada to help the Bangladesh cricket team win the match and take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.
