Prashant Solanki has opened up on his experience of working as a net bowler for the Chennai Super Kings during the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. The uncapped leg-spinner was one of the few net bowlers with the CSK squad last season. CSK finished as champions during that season.

Sharing his experience during an interview with Sportskeeda Cricket, Prashant Solanki said that the net bowlers were not allowed to go to the dressing room. However, he pointed out that the team atmosphere was quite similar. The players of the squad were relaxed and focused on the process.

“We were not allowed to go to the dressing room as we were net bowlers. But we used to go to watch matches in Dubai. The atmosphere was same as this year, the players were very chilled. We went a month earlier than other teams. We had many open nets and match simulations so the players were ready to cash in,” said Solanki.

Prashant Solanki named the cricketer who recommended his name to the Chennai Super Kings team management

Prashant Solanki has not played much domestic cricket, but the leg-spinner received a chance to be a net bowler for one of the world’s best cricket franchises. Solanki disclosed that it was CSK’s pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur who recommended his name to the Chennai Super Kings team management.

Thakur spotted him during the domestic cricket season and felt that he could be a valuable addition to the group of net bowlers. Solanki went on to impress the CSK staff with his bowling in the nets, leading to a maiden IPL contract from the same franchise.

Solanki made his debut in IPL 2022, scalping two wickets against the Rajasthan Royals. He is likely to be retained by the Chennai Super Kings for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.
