How will CSK see Ashwin?

As a part of a promotional event of India Cements, a press meet was held in Chennai yesterday. Various journalists from different media raised out their questions and MS Dhoni answered them in a calm and composed way. The first question was from Bagawati Prasad; a reporter from the Times Of India, Chennai. He questioned his thought on Ashwin and the decision of not retaining him in the team for this tournament.

MS replied saying that it has always been a tough call for that matter. With Ashwin, they had already done the same thing in the past. He added saying that CSK will definitely go for Ashwin in the auction, but it’s also the other players they want.

Local players and CSK

Just like Ashwin being a local player, he said that CSK wants a lot of local players to be a part of their side. And CSK still has players like Bravo, Faf Du Plessis, Brendon McCullum who has to be considered too. The franchise still has 2 RTM’s but when and where we can use is something to think of; said MS Dhoni.

We will have to buy him in the auction

As far as Ashwin is concerned, Dhoni told that they cannot use the right to match card to buy him.  This is because that they’ve already retained 3 Indian players. And so they’ll have to buy him in the auction. But he also remarked the problems behind this to happen. He’s not sure on what margins they have to go; because there is no fixed price for someone in the auction.

Ashwin will come first in the auction: Dhoni

When it comes to an auction, he remarked that Ashwin will be the first one to be picked. But he has to wait and watch for it to happen. He can’t put any number to it, but CSK will try to get him. At an auction, it’s the price that dictates the terms; he replied to that reporter.
