The ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket culminated yesterday in Cape Town with the home team securing the series victory. The Proteas climbed above Team India on the ICC World Test Championship points table with a 2-1 win in their first series of the new cycle. There was a stump mic episode involving captain Virat Kohli and his Indian teammates during the Cape Town Test. Former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist discussed it recently.

Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal’s words were clearly audible on stump mic. As per Adam, it seemed like it was a bit premeditated and the anger was brewing.

The Indian players referred to host broadcaster SuperSport during their rant. It was about an LBW decision. The on-field umpire ruled Dean Elgar out LBW to a delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin during the second innings of the South African cricket team.

While Elgar got out after adding eight runs more to his tally, the wicket could have helped the Indian cricket team build some momentum. When South Africa reviewed Elgar’s decision, the ball tracker showed that the pitching was in line, the impact was in line, but the wickets were missing. Many fans were surprised to see how the ball bounced so much in the tracker and went above the stumps.

This has been building or brewing: Adam Gilchrist on stump mic episode

Adam Gilchrist recollected how the ball-tampering incident also involved the same broadcaster and stated the following as per News18:

“That accusation there I am interested in Warnie; this seems a bit premeditated. This has been building or brewing and it has got to a breaking point. That accusation about filming teams shining the ball I am assuming it goes all the way back to that very ground when the Australians were caught out on camera.”
