Born in Sydney, Tanveer Sangha, a talented leg-spinner, was born to family who hail from Rahimpur, a village in India’s Punjab state, near Jalandhar. His family moved to Australia in the late 1990s, with his father, Joga Sangha, pursuing education and later becoming a taxi driver, while his mother, Upneet, became an accountant.

Born on November 26, 2001, Sangha has only played five List A matches so far. His latest one was an One Day match against Sri Lanka A, where he took two wickets. He made a name for himself as the leading wicket-taker for the U-19 Australian team in the under-19 ODI World Cup 2020. During that tournament, he claimed two 4-wicket hauls and a 5-wicket haul, totaling 15 wickets, including the prized wicket of the emerging Indian batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In the 2020-21 season, he was picked up by the Sydney Thunder and managed to take an impressive 21 wickets in the Big Bash League. The following season, he contributed 16 wickets to the team’s success. Unfortunately, he faced a setback with a back injury during the 2022-23 season, limiting his participation.

Sangha was surprisingly added to the provisional squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 to be played in India where the spin could play a pivotal role. Sangha also most recently made his debut for the Australian team in the earlier T20I series vs the Proteas. He played 2 matches in the series and took a total of 5 wickets, including taking a 4 wicket haul in his debut match.

Australia, who are ahead 2-0 in the ODI series, have a chance to win the five-match series Senwes Park. Australia have made two more changes to their lineup, bringing back pace bowler Josh Hazlewood and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis in place of Josh Inglis and Aaron Hardie.

On the other hand, the Proteas have made four changes to their team compared to the one that suffered a 123-run defeat in the 2nd ODI and a win would only keep them alive in the 5 match series.
