Here’s why star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja could be ruled out of the West Indies ODI series

Before the three-match ODI series against the West Indies commencing tonight, the Indian team may face a major setback. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja may be out of the first ODI match. According to reports, he has suffered a knee injury and for this reason him playing in the first match remains a doubt.

Shikhar Dhawan has been named as the captain of the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Regular captain Rohit Sharma has been rested for this series and as because of which Shikhar Dhawan has been given the responsibility of leading the team.

Along with Rohit, many senior players have been rested for this series. Apart from Rohit Sharma, veteran batsman Virat Kohli, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya will also sit out the series.

Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the vice-captain for this series but has reportedly injured his knee in training. That’s why him playing in the first match is doubtful. The final decision regarding Jadeja will be taken after consulting the medical team.

There is also a possibility that he may be called-up for the T20 series by giving him rest for the ODI series. In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, India have the option of Axar Patel. Apart from this, Yuzvendra Chahal another spin bowler at Team India’s disposal.

Let us also tell you that recently KL Rahul has tested positive for the COVID-19. Rahul was selected for the 5-match T20I series between West Indies and India starting on 29 July in Trinidad. He was training at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. However, even before returning to the team, he has tested positive to the virus. A further decision will be taken on him after assessing the situation.
