The 2nd Test match between India and South Africa has began at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg from today onwards and Team India has made a major change going into the match.

Just before the toss took place on the opening day of the 2nd Test match between India and South Africa, the news was confirmed by the Team India camp that captain Virat Kohli has a back issue and thus won’t be able to feature in the match.

Opening batsman KL Rahul has been named the captain for the 2nd Test match in particular as Kohli’s replacement, while Hanuma Vihari has come in into the Playing XI in place of Kohli.

After which, many fans took to the social media and asked as to why Shreyas Iyer has not been included in the Playing XI in place of Kohli.

It is to be noted that Shreyas Iyer had a great debut Test match and series against New Zealand in India’s previous Test series.

Here’s why Shreyas Iyer was not picked for 2nd Test match vs South Africa

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took all the matters into their hand and released a official press release stating about Virat Kohli’s injury and confirming the appointment of KL Rahul as the Captain for the match.

Under that same press release, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Shreyas Iyer has not been considered for the match due to Stomach Bug.

India vs South Africa 2nd Test Match

Talking about the match, India had got off to a great start of their inning, scoring 36 runs in 14 overs without losing any wickets. After which, Mayank Agarwal departed on the first ball of the 15th over, after scoring 26 runs and was looking well set.

Soon after, Cheteshwar Pujara also departed after scoring just 3 runs from 33 balls, while Ajinkya Rahane failed to open his account and was dismissed off the first ball.

Team India is down to 3 wickets for 53 runs at the time of lunch. Both KL Rahul and Hanuman Vihari would look to steady the ship for the Indian team.
