World Cup 2023 Prize Money: ICC announces a record-breaking cash prize for winner to runner-up and other teams

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has three games left before a new team will be crowned as the world champion. England, who are the defending champions, are out of the race, and India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand have made it to the semi-finals.

The first semi-final will take place at the Wankhede Stadium on November 15 between India and New Zealand. South Africa and Australia will play in the second semi-final on November 16 at the Eden Gardens. The winners of both semis will face each other on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the final.

The group stage ended on Sunday with the last game between India and Netherlands. Top ten teams played in the competition, and India topped the table. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the prize money for the winner of the tournament and other teams in knockouts.

On Tuesday, the ICC shared the details on their X handle. The winner of the tournament will get a whopping price of USD 4 million (INR 33.29 crore), which is more than the previous value. The total amount to be distributed in the tournament will be USD 10 million, and the runners-up will get USD 2 million (INR 16.64 crore).

On the other hand, the two losing semi-finalists will get an amount of USD 800,000 each (INR 6.6 crore). Four teams made it to the semis, while six teams were eliminated from the group stage. All six teams will get a price of USD 100,000 each (INR 83 lakhs).

On the other hand, a win in the group stage will also earn you some prize money. There were 45 group matches played in the tournament, and each winning team will get USD 40,000 (INR 33 lakhs). India won all nine of its games and finished at the top. South Africa and Australia won seven matches each.
