Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rachin Ravindra among four nominated players for “Emerging Player Of The Year 2023”

With 2023 came to an end, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will be awarding some of the top performers across formats in different categories. One of those high-profile categories is related to the new talent, which will be known as the “Emerging Player Of the Year 2023.” On January 3 the ICC released the nominees for this category.

Four youngsters caught the attention of the world with some of their brilliant performances to start their career with. New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, South African pacer Gerald Coetzee and Sri Lanka fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka are among the four nominated players.

Notably, Jaiswal made his debut in 2023 and started his career with a brilliant ton in his debut innings. Meanwhile, the other three players have also done a great job in the last calendar year.

Rachin has been superb for New Zealand, especially in the ODIs. He was the top scorer for New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. He scored 578 runs in ten matches with three centuries. Overall, he scored 820 runs in ODIs and also took 18 wickets with the ball.

Coetzee was South Africa’s highest wicket-taker in World Cup 2023. He played only 8 matches and took a total of 20 wickets. Overall, he took 31 ODI wickets. On the other hand, he also took 10 wickets in tests and 6 wickets in T20Is.

Sri Lankan lead pacer Dilshan Madushanka impressed everyone in the World Cup 2023. He was the highest wicket-taker for his team and troubled every batter with his left-arm angel. He took 21 wickets in World Cup 2023. Overall, he took 31 wickets in 15 ODIs and 12 T20I wickets.

Indian opener Jaiswal is the fourth nominated player on the list. The Southpaw started with a 175 in his first test innings. Later, he also scored a T20I hundred during the Asian Games 2023. He also became the youngest Indian to score a T20I ton. In Test, he scored 288 runs at an average of 48 while he scored 430 runs in T20Is at 33.07.
