Former Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has opined that Yuzvendra Chahal has given a perfect reply to the Royal Challengers Bangalore after they decided to release him ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Chahal was an integral part of the RCB squad for many years, but the team management did not retain him ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
The mega auction rules allowed the Royal Challengers Bangalore to retain four players from their IPL 2021 squad, but they preferred to retain only three names. They went with Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj as their three retained players. Fans thought that RCB would run after Yuzvendra Chahal at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. However, the same did not happen.
Royal Challengers Bangalore signed Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga for 10.75 crore each. They allowed the Rajasthan Royals to sign Chahal, and the leg-spinner has been a match-winner for the Jaipur-based franchise. He is one of the leading wicket-takers in IPL 2022 and a firm contender to take the Purple Cap home.
Shoaib Akhtar gave his opinion on Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of the match against the Chennai Super Kings
Chahal will be in action against the Chennai Super Kings later tonight in IPL 2022. Ahead of that game, Shoaib Akhtar said on Sportskeeda:
“The thing with Chahal is that he is full of life, he enjoys his cricket and makes fun videos as well. But for the first time, they (RCB) challenged him as a cricketer. It (releasing him) was like telling him, ‘listen, you are not good enough’. Chahal has answered them by becoming the leading wicket-taker this season.”
It will be interesting to see how Chahal performs in his last league game of IPL 2022. He will be keen to help RR finish second on the points table.
