The rescheduled 5th Test match between England and India is to be played from the 1st July and former Indian pacer believes that it will be the last time that two of the greats of the game, Virat Kohli and James Anderson will face off in this series.

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has made a big statement regarding the Birmingham Test match between India and England. Zaheer Khan believes that during the 5th Test match, it could be the last time that Virat Kohli and James Anderson face off.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad recently took part in the Test series against New Zealand and played a pivotal role in keeping the England team in the game with their bowling, even though their batting unit suffered throughout. In the series against New Zealand, Anderson took 11 wickets in two matches and was rested for the third match after registering the series win in the 2nd match itself.

During a conversation on Cricbuzz Live on YouTube, the former Indian star pace bowler opined that seeing James Anderson against Virat Kohli is something to witness, but also added that it may be the last time that these two faces off in the red ball competition with the English pacer nearing his retirement phase.

“The more you watch this battle, the more you enjoy it. But yes, I feel we might be seeing this battle for the last time,” a part of his conversation reads. He also added that there may be a big gap between next Test match between India and England.

It must be noted that James Anderson, who is aged 39-years-old and will turn 40 by July end, has been an integral member of the England bowling unit and has been a backbone of the team. Even though he is 39, he right-hand swing bowler bowls like he is in his prime years, like a 27 years old pacer.

Meanwhile talking about James Anderson vs Virat Kohli, the two greats of the red ball cricket in the current generation has faced of in 681 balls and Kohli has scored 297 runs while Anderson has dismissed Kohli a total of 7 times.
