Nine years ago today, Sachin Tendulkar called it a day on his one-day international career. The entire cricketing world was heartbroken because Tendulkar was one of the best ODI players of all time. He was the first batter to record a double hundred in the history of one-day international cricket.

A few months later, Tendulkar decided to end his international career by retiring from Tests as well. Eight years have passed since his retirement, but even in 2021, Sachin ranked in one of the most popular cricketers.

“This is the second innings of my life. The second innings is equally important, or possibly more important than the first. That is because, in the first innings of my life, my team consisted of only 14-15 members. Here, it is a team of 1.3 billion plus. It’s a bigger team, so a bigger effort is going to be required,” said Sachin Tendulkar.

Fans should note that a few days back, YouGov ranked Sachin third on the list of the most admired sportspersons in the world, which further highlights his popularity.
