Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the Indian Premier League history. The Mumbai-based team joined the league in 2008 and has been a part of the tournament ever since. Mumbai have won the IPL title five times and they also won the Champions League T20 trophy twice.
Speaking of MI’s achievements, some of the greatest players in cricket history have represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL. They had a relatively weaker squad in IPL 2022, which is why they finished last this year, but fans expect them to make a roaring comeback in 2023.
Most of the players of the Mumbai Indians team are on national duty right now, but the following two stars will be in action in West Indies, playing in the inaugural The 6IXTY competition for different franchises.
1. Mumbai Indians star Kieron Pollard
Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard was one of the four players retained by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Pollard had a disastrous IPL 2022 season as he failed to get going in all departments and was subsequently dropped from the playing XI.
He will play for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming THE 6IXTY competition. TKR have a very strong squad for this tournament as apart from Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Nicholas Pooran will also play for them.
2. Dewald Brevis
Nicknamed as ‘Baby AB’, South African youngster Dewald Brevis made his Indian Premier League debut for MI this year. He was impressive straightaway as he played fearless cricket and scored four sixes off four balls against Rahul Chahar, who represented India in the ICC T20 World Cup last year.
Brevis has been signed by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for THE 6IXTY tournament. CSK star Dwaine Pretorious and RCB Hall of Famer Chris Gayle will also play for the Patriots this year.
