Pakistan is among the few cricketing nations to have won the ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC T20 World Cup and also the ICC Champions Trophy. They were close to becoming two-time T20 World Cup champions last year, where they lost against the England cricket team in the summit clash of the 2022 edition of the mega event.
There has always been an abundance of talent in Pakistan. Many fans consider it the hub of fast bowlers because year after year, the nation keeps on producing the top-quality fast bowlers. However, not all members of the cricket universe would have an idea that there are a couple of cricketers in the current Men in Green team who were not born in Pakistan.
In fact, these players come from a nation which does not have a Test status as per the International Cricket Council (ICC). Still, they moved to this Asian team and played international cricket. Here is a list of the two names:
1. Current Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim was born in Wales
Current all-rounder Imad Wasim is one of the top players in the T20 arena. He is currently the skipper of the Karachi Kings team in the 2023 edition of the PSL. Wasim was born in Wales, United Kingdom, and he became the first player born in that country to play for Pakistan at the international level. A report in Wales Online stated:
“Wasim may have been born in Wales but he has played all of his cricket in Pakistan. He represented the country at Under-19 level and has impressed sufficiently to make the step-up to the full international game.”
2. Shan Masood
Batter Shan Masood recently became the vice-captain of the Men in Green’s ODI squad. Masood was born in Kuwait. The Kuwait team has made it to the Asia Cup Qualifiers in the recent past.
