All four teams will name their strongest playing XIs for the playoffs matches, but a couple of teams have received a big blow as their star England players have returned home. The England cricket team will soon play a Test match against the Ireland cricket team. It is not a part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle, but the England Test stars have returned home to gear up for the Ashes series as well.

Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan will be available to play for the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 playoffs, but the following two players have skipped the main phase of the competition.

    1. Ben Stokes skipped IPL 2023 playoffs to play against Ireland

Ben Stokes recovered from his injury and was available for selection for the Chennai Super Kings in their last few league stage matches. However, CSK kept him on the bench because their overseas combination of Devon Conway, Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali had been working out well.

    2. Mark Wood

LSG pacer Mark Wood returned home in the last week of April for the birth of his first child. He has decided against returning to the IPL, but he will be playing for England in the one-off Test match against the Ireland team.
