A few years later, Deccan Chargers had to leave the IPL. It was the Sunrisers Hyderabad that replaced the Deccan Chargers to represent Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

1) Adam Gilchrist

It was Adam Gilchrist who led the team to a victory in the 2009 edition of the tournament. With VVS Laxman failing to do well as a captain, Gilly took the team under his wings and won the competition in South Africa. Kings XI Punjab wanted a similar impact for their side and hence, picked Gilchrist. In 2012, he was named the captain and coach of the side. However, Punjab could not find great success under Gilchrist. Gilly retired and later, Punjab had to look for other options.

2) Kumar Sangakkara is one of the former Deccan Chargers cricketers

Kumar Sangakkara is one of the former Deccan Chargers cricketers who became Head Coaches in the IPL. During the transition between DC and SRH, it was Sangakkara at the forefront, leading the side. He did a good job, helping the team win a few games. Later, Sangakkara joined Rajasthan Royals as the Director of Cricket. Recently, he also became the Head Coach of the side. While there were reports that he would step down, he has held his role for IPL 2024, as well.
