Lasith Malinga has replaced Shane Bond as the Bowling Coach of Mumbai Indians. Being an experienced coach, there would be suitors for Bond, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of two franchises that can target Shane Bond as a Bowling Coach for IPL 2024.
Apart from being a bowling coach, Bond also has experience as a Head Coach. While teams might prefer to use his experience mainly as a bowling coach, it won’t be a surprise if the Kiwi’s next gig in the IPL is as a Head Coach.
1) Gujarat Titans
It needs to be noted that Gujarat Titans does not have a specific bowling coach. The duties are being handled by Ashish Nehra. However, considering Nehra’s tasks will become more intense as the franchise grows older, it won’t be a bad idea to have a seperate appointment. GT has a solid bunch of talented pacers. While Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma are experienced, the likes of Yash Dayal, Shivam Mavi and Josh Little need help during a long tournament. They might require attention and so will the captain Hardik Pandya. Considering these factors, it would be a great move if GT goes for Bond.
2)Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals is one of the franchises that can target Shane Bond as a Bowling Coach for IPL 2024. It will not be a surprise if Bond goes and replaces Malinga directly at RR. Players like Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Sen need guidance. The franchise also needs a new Head Coach and it may not be a bad idea if Bond gets the opportunity. Nevertheless, there would be other contenders for the role as per the latest reports. Therefore, RR is also a part of this list.
